Basic Function:
The Test Lead is responsible for leading QA strategy, planning
This role will lead the development of structure, systems, and processes to guide and execute testing. They will work with onshore/offshore resources, system integrated teams and test resources across teams, locations, and functions, including functional teams, integration, and data. This role has the overall responsibility of guiding the objectives and outcomes of the day-to-day testing resources and ensuring that the QA function is adequate validating the desired functionality based on integrated workflows across projects.
Major Responsibilities:
Test Strategy, Planning and Execution
• Understand the future state of the business processes and implement QA Strategy
• Lead the QA functions within the program, including setting the QA strategy for the CIS including the customer experience for employees, prospective/current customers, and shareholders
• Guiding the creation of testing strategies for overall solution in functional, data conversions and Integrations testing areas
• Guide objectives and manage phase containment across different test phases including Unit Test, Functional QA, Systems Integration, Regression, User Acceptance, End-to-End, and Data testing.
• Monitoring quality testing effort and identify gaps in the testing process/effort
• Web/UI testing experience to be able to ensure web pages are on brand (content and design consistency) including brand voice, testing web UI, and experience editing and proof-reading content
Team Management:
• Manage team of test analysts, prioritizing and directing work, providing feedback, and ensuring quality deliverables
• Define and setup team of QA engineers and analyst for the testing effort on the CIS project
• Define clear goals and objective for each team member
• Ensure day to day oversight of the QA team for a given project timeline
• Ensure that test teams follow established test standards, guidelines, and methodology, recommend changes as appropriate; Advocate for the bugs/product changes that will help overall business customer experience
• Work with scrum teams, architecture, program and project leadership, and internal and external test resources to ensure QA function meets objectives and is executed efficiently
Experience:
Required Experience
• 10+ years’ experience with testing and test leadership across multiple phases and types of testing, from planning through execution
• 10+ years of experience in implementing QA strategies and managing testing of complex data conversions and integrations
• Experience with defining, implementing, and maintaining project process guidance related to testing
• Ability to review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project standards
• Ability to develop and manage all aspects of the testing effort, including plans, interdependencies, schedule, budget, tools, and required personnel
• In-depth knowledge of the SDLC as well as various software testing methodologies
• Experience with Agile Scrum delivery and Waterfall delivery frameworks
• Exhibits excellent oral communication, written communication, organizational, and time management skills in dealing with internal and external clients
Preferred Experience:
• Exposure to a range of enterprise business applications such as CRM, ERP (Oracle), WAM (Maximo/Clevest), CIS, Billing Applications as well as working with both cloud and on-prem solutions, including legacy
• Experience providing technical leadership to project resources to meet testing deadlines and objectives
• Experience working with distributed external resources and vendor teams (onshore and offshore)
• Experience with at least one of the following tools – JIRA, Team/SharePoint, test suites such as HP Quality Center, Zephyr
• Experience with at least one or more programming or scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Java, JavaScript, Unix, XML)
• Experience with configuration management / build management procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at all levels
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and program complex application stack
• Strong attention to detail and deadlines
• Preferred, but not required, knowledge and understanding of the utility industry
• Ability to work well under pressure and work on multiple projects concurrently
• Ability to work well with global team members/suppliers
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
